I don't really know too much about drives for laptops and what's compatible. I know I have an Acer Aspire 1681 with a SOSW-852S drive that doesn't work at all. It stopped burning awhile ago, then it stopped reading any type of cd at all and now it makes really loud noises if you put a disc in. I want to put a new drive in, but replacing with the exact same dvd burner will cost me $120. How do I know what type of drives will work in my laptop and where to buy them. I'm just looking for maybe a regular cd burner if all dvd burners for laptops are that expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
