seeking advice

I ordered an LVW 5005 last week and is scheduled for delivery wednesday (today is Mon) and i read on this forum that a lot of LVW5005 lasts only 5-6 weeks and some a little less and some a tad more.

Should i refuse my delivery and send it back so i dont have the headaches like some of the forum members here ?

Or HAs the issue been resolved or am I flipping a coin ?

Any updates or advice greatly appreciated
Dragonda

Hi Goixiz

My 5005 lasted about 6 months before refusing to recognise any disks, its currently residing under the bed gathering dust. Dont do it, would be my advice.

The problem may also be related to a very dirty laser lens. As I have another DVD recorder that was doing the very same thing. After a manual cleaning using a Q-tip soaked with Windex did the the trick and returned the unit back to full operation again. I had to take the cover off the case and another access cover on the DVD section to access the lens, but the Q-tips showed a discoloration indicating accumalations were preventing the laser from reading the disc properly; remember the same lens handles both record and playback functions. If you're not up to taking the unit apart then try a wet type DVD lens clening disc as the dry type don't really do the trick if the accumalations are excessive. Give it a try you may just be surprised that it will work for your recorder.

If knowledge is power then why do I so feel powerless
