Hi, I have a bunch of avi files that I normally burn to a few cds, but would like to save the space and use a single dvd. I cant burn vcd images to a dvd, but is there a way I can retain the file size and still burn to dvd? Whenever I try to burn to DVD, it inflates the filesize by about 4X. Am I being stupid? Any help will be massively appreciated.

You can burn them to a DVD but first you need to get them out of the image (ISO) format. It is kind of like you have your AVI in a zip file but with no compression. So you could use a proggy like ISO buster to get your AVI's on to your hard drive and then just simply burn them to a DVD as data using any burning software..

Cheers :-)

Yeah, but that wont play on my dvd player...will it? Basically, is there a tool to encode/burn these files so that they are in a similar format to VCD, only on a dvd? I dont see why this isnt possible, as a dvd is simply a larger storage medium. Thanks for your help.

Sure you can. All you had to do was ask.. :-) You can either make what is called a VCD DVD (Nero supports that) or the better way would be to make them straight up DVD compliant files so they will play in anything.. Here is a link to a guide I made that should help you out a bunch http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DivXtoDVD.pdf

Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you :-)
