Hi readers.

First let me say this is my first post as a member, Even though I have been reading the forums for a year and a half now. I need some advice. I am in need of a router to hook up two pc's and my PS2, I don't care about price. What I need is a router that will allow me to change my IP address anytime I need to, If thats possible. I will also need a built in firewall. Any and all suggestion will be great. Thanks in advance.

Ive always heard that Netgears are good reliable Routers, many of my friends and family have them, I have no need for one as I have LAN setup in my house connecting my 3 pcs together on internet connection sharing. But ive heard no one complain about Netgears. Do you want a wireless router or a standard router?

I and looking at getting a wired router, I am a little iffy on the Wireless routers. Does the netgear come with built in firewalls and stealth mode like the linksys routers? And can you change you IP address at will?

This is the Netgear I was taling about, its a wired router/firewall its got 4 ports and its a reasonable price:

and this would be the equivalent linksys:

as for the other features you mentioned, I can not answer, like I say I have no experience in using any of these routers im just going on recomendations from my friends and family.

I'm running a Belkin wireless router with a wireless card in my PC it can have 4 PC's hard wired in and run 64 wireless connections runs well with my laptop.

For a home router I prefer Linksys, especially now that they are owned by Cisco. I work on Cisco routers and switches every day at work and they have been very stable.

linksys routers are mos def the way to go...but i think you will looking to pay a lot more for the features that you want! Why are you iffy on wireless routers?

I use d-link and it works for xbox live and it has built in firewall.
