I just bought the tristan prettyman cd...probably no one's heard of her. anyway it has 'copy controller', is this the same thing everyone has been talking about? and so using their 'software', i tried to 'save' the music to my computer...what is this 'software' that was installed, and how can i remove it? cause even tho its saved on my computer, i still cant use winamp to play the files! bastards wont even let me rip my own cd...

so i figured out the cd is using CDS 300. ive tried ripping it with clone cd, eac, and Nero. all of them produce the same jumpy audio. even when i try playing the cd within eac, the audio is jumpy. any suggestion?

Try using the Burst Mode feature in EAC. It's not generally recommended but it's sometimes the only way to beat copy protected cd's. Or you could put tape on the edges of the cd as that's where the copy protection is stored.

well i figured it out, i tried ripping it on my laptop, but declined the license agreement when inserting the cd. no problems. is there anyway to rid my desktop of this 'software' installed?

What is the name of the software installed? Was it installed from the CD.

well...im not exactly sure "what" was installed. the license agreement simply state "software". when u agree the to license, it doesnt give u any options, it just says something like verifying license. but the protection used, i believe, is Cactus Data Shield 300 version 8.00.02.0426. i figure this from the CDS300 folder, and i read the version.txt. these recording companies are getting sneaky...

They certainly are. Whatever protection they bring out someone always cracks it.
