Hello, my first post here, hope you can help me.

Here's the deal, I have two computers set up with WinXp and the other one with Win2000Pro. Both are equipped with a Pioneer DVR-107D (firmware 1.16) burner. I frequently use Nero 6.3.0.3 to burn DVD-R discs on both machines. I have never had a none working disc, and tested them in numerous stand alone players, works like a dream. This was until two of my buddies (both have PANASONIC DMRE85 Stand Alone Burner/Player) tested a bunch of discs in their players(burners), they get UNSUPPORTED discs all the time...what the heck?

Anyone, any clue? Are PIONEER and PANASONIC totally incompatible?

/Luke

I have the Panansonic DMRE85 and so far have not had a problem with disks yet. You could try putting a blank Ritek disk in this recorder and see if it accepts it and will record. This will eliminate whether it is the disks or the burn. There is firmware updates available for this recorder through Panasonic

Firmware is the programming embedded in your DVD burner that controls its writing strategy. Among other things, it validates that you are using the correct media type in the drive, and will cause the drive to reject incorrect media.

Firmware plays the middleman between the drive's software and hardware. The most recent firmware updates will result in the best possible recording results for your drive.

Well, I must have burned like 500 discs, never had any problems in any other players, except the Panasonic Stand Alone burner mentioned, wouldn't the problem rather be that the Panasonic needs an upgrade?

As stated above the Panasonic probably does need it firmware updated and the link to Panasonic is given :)
