hi merjazz a few things i can point out for you:
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286033 (508:00.33, 4464MB)
you are burning too close to the edge of the disk. try reducing the size of your project to 4.3g.

alot of virtual drives which causes problems with nero sometimes as they are trying to access your burner all the time (i.e. packet writing software) http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html use this link to turn the dma on for your virtual drives or uninstall them.

your winaspi is out of date - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm
use the link to update it.

http://www.nero.com/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html a patch from nero for the nerovision express.

your burner seems to have an issue with your choice of media.

By no means am I the subject matter expert but change these errors i pointed out and report back to let us know the results.

Wow when did the new nero come out? I must be slacking.

forgot to add if you had a previous verion of nero use http://nero.com/us/Clean_Tools.html to completely delete nero, reboot and install the latest version of nero again.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

@merjazz89 -

not a lot wrong in the logfile, apart from the media
Quote:
Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4081B>Version: A106

Last address to be written: 2286033 (508:00.33, 4464MB)
- for info, you're attempting to burn too close to the outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size in preferences to 4300MB for future discs

@ creaky

was wondering winaspi back in 99 is not correct is it? Hmmm I suspect he just deleted and installed the latest version over an older version. Also I been testing dvdrb w/cce vs. Nero vs. canopus procoder vs. the latest xcopy platinum. CCE outclassed them both. Damn off topic that quick those virtual drives might be killing his process as well.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

@matt72 - i don't think i'll get around to the RB/CCE thing, not for a while anyway.

as to APSI layer - i ignore that lately, unless it's got 4 question marks against the version.

OK i've tried ur suggestions but it doesn't work:

- i made disc size 4300
- i uninstalled all virtual drives
- i updated winaspi to version 4.71 (latest)
- i installed the patch (NVE SMC patch)
- i tried using a different DVD-R media (ProData, manufacturer id is TYG02)

*** The weird thing is that both these media work on my other comp, and also this media from the same pack has been working for me for a while now ***

damn then mine are fakes...i confirmed that anything I burn on my other DVD-RW (LG GSA-4163B) with these fakes works even at 8x!! I did a bit of researching and a lot of ppl say that my DVD-RW (LG GSA-4081B) stops working after 9-12 months...could this be true and my media and software are ok but the drive itself is bad....is there any way to test if my drive is bad??? thx for the previous info

i don't know much about the drive you mention, but as to the longevity of the fake TY, see the 1st page in 2nd link of my sig, as to how i got/get on with my appalling fakes (or don't get on with them, more to the point)

ok thx everyone who has helped...mainly creaky...I have come to a conclusion that if your logs are like mine and you are gettings similar errors even with good media your burner is gone...particularly for this model LG GSA-4081B as a lot of other ppl have also mentioned that after about a year it just stops working...

no worries, swapping a drive is always a last resort, but the Nero logs are great for trying to tame the basic problems..
