Hi,

I'm trying to use Nero BackItUp (version 1.2.0.27) to write my backups to CD. I have two jobs setup: a weekly full backup (fridays at noon) and a daily incremental backup (at 10:00 AM). I started things off yesterday by using the "Start Job Now" option for the full backup.

Today, at approx 11:00 AM, I checked the job status. It said that the incremental backup had run without problems. I then checked the CD, but it showed only the (compressed) files and the .nbi file from the full backup. I deleted a file that I had changed between the full backup and the incremental backup and then tried to restore it. This resulted in an error (file not found, if I recall correctly - quite as I expected, considering that the backups were not on the CD).

At 12:30 PM, I checked the job status again. It said that the full backup had finished without problems. I checke the CD; now, I saw not only the compressed files and .nbi of the first full backup, but also those of the incremental backup and those of the second full backup. Also, the timestamps on all new files was strange: the incremental backup files were timestamped at noon (12:01 PM for the .nbi file), and the backup files of the full backup were timestamped at 13:00 PM (13:08 PM for the .nbi). From the timestamps, it appeared as if I was looking at files from the future!

The delayed appearance of the incremental backup makes me wonder if there is some caching mechanism at work. If so, doesn't that mean that I run the risk to lose data if I eject the CD before the cache is written to the CD? or if the computer hangs, or loses power?

And what is the reason for the strange timestamps?

All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Best regards,

Hugo

Hey,

I'm sorry if this doesn't help I hate seeing threads without replies. I've never used that particular program by Nero but this link may be helpful to you.

Nero.com/enu/User_Guides_BackItUp.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/enu/User_Guides_BackItUp.html
It's a guide to the program.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. However, it didn't help. I had already read the guide before asking here. The symptoms I have are not described in the guide.

Any other ideas? Anyone?

Best, Hugo
