How to tell psp version by box

Im going to buy a new one today because coded arms made me update. Would I be better off buying a used one to get v1.5 or should I try to find a new one. How can I tell if its a launch model some people where saying that it says something paticular on the side of the box if its a launch model.

Actually, Im not to sure, but I believe that pretty soon there will be a hack, where you can change your firmwire to previous verisons, and then even go back up. Im not to sure, but I will check it out, and maybe some one else who knows can post. So hold off a mintue and I will do some researching.

I just did a yahoo search and found that if you can find a box that says 120v or 120v A then its still good, If you find obe that says 120v B dont buy it. 120 and 120 A are 1.50

you cant downgrade firmware
and the box trick no longer works!!!!
sony has announced that all new psp shipments will come with version 1.51 or version 1.52
and new ones from the u.k and japan and china will be version 2.00 or better
version 2.00 will be realeased this year for the us on august 12 2005

Yes the box trick does still work, I just bought one today that said 120v A on it and it was v1.5.

yes but that file only works on games that have the update and require you to update but you don't have to
all the new games that are coming out this year will incorperate the you need to update or your game doesn't work patch so no matter what you do to try to bypass security on the umd disk it won't boot
so have fun when version 2.0 comes equipted on the psp umd

I think the regular 120 came with the spiderman movie and the 120A came without the movie and is the 1.5 firmware.

Coded Arms didn't make me update. Death Jr., the lastest US release doesn't make you update past 1.50 either.

Hey guystoday is the 22and of Agu. I have to take my PSP back on Saterday to get a new one! That will be the 27 will the new PSP come whith 1.51 or 1.52 or 2.0???
I am gussing 2.0
Do I have a chance of geting a 1.5???
Did the stores ship all the 1.5s back to Sony???

Ver 2 is not out till 27/8. 1.5 are just sold out and not being made. U would get a 1.51 or a 1.52.

I asked at EB Games about if the new Versions are being shipped yet... He said that they are still shipping 1.50 and won't be shipping any others until they start "making" Version 2.0... He said they wouldn't be shipping any 1.51 or 1.52 and would only rely on the Firmware for people to upgrade (do to the UMD Disc needing you to if you buy a newer game)...
That to me sounds like they never ever shipped anything out with 1.51 or 1.52 Versions on them...

Hey, I tried to get a PSP by looking at the box, but the ones I saw, looked like this...

B
I don't know if that would be considered a 120v B because the B is under the V. My friend told me his was a 120v, and it had neither a B or an A on it, and it was still a 1.50. If someone could respond to this asap, it would be great. Because a need a PSP asap lol.

Ya I hate EB Games i bought my psp there yesterday and the guy said it was a 1.5 but when i opened and looked at the version it said it was a 1.51.

lol, lets blow EB up, i got the BFG in my right hand and the railgun in my left, 200 Armor, 200 Life, and if they don't like that, when I get tired of blowing the stores up, I'll just respawn in there back yards and burn their houses down with my lightning gun and rocket launcher.

i was just thinking would a 2.0 psp have a C instead of nothing or A or B?
( i bought a psp when it came out upgraded to 1.51 before i anyone hacked psp, then i just said hell with it i already lost homebrew so i upgraded to 2.0 now im going to see if future shop's extended warrenty is acaully good or just a bunch of BS to try to get more money. the whole right third of my screen is yellowed LOL its so f*cking annoying)
