which is the the best programme out ther for backing up a dvd 9 move to a 8.5 double layer disc and does it do a goo job at that .thanks

I echo that, DVD Decrypter handles the layer break very well, I have used this for all my dual layer backups. The only coaster I made was using Nero, had skips and freezes at the break. Plus Decrypter is free.

I agree with Ppower and also recommend DVD Decrypter. Might I also suggest using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 to burn the video to a dual layer DVD+R disc. For and example of how to use Roxio, check out this page of mine:
