I'm using LAME 3.96.1

I'm not to sure about what code I'm using: is this a VBR code?

%l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s %d

whats 128 means? Do I need to change the word standard with extreme to get more bits rate , for example?

I've read the page about the encoder settings, but there are not full code examples. How am I supposted to understand these settings?
very frustating

All you really need to type is: --alt-preset extreme. Every encoder setting will use a VBR encoding approch unless you use 320 as the bit-rate (-b 320) since 320 is the maximum.

Thats all I know for sure. Never had a reason to use an ABR scheme.
