Sounds like some glitch in the program. Either reinstall DVDXCopy or use the 'Restore' feature on Win XP. BTW, that Archive.txt file is not mandatory on the DVD. For example, you could just go into the Temp folder - after DVDXCopy has successfully read the first disc and prompting you to insert a blank one - and just save the VIDEO_TS folder and burn it later without the Arcive.txt file.

SINCE I WAS FLOATING BY THIS SHOULD DO THE TRICK..

DVD X Copy is trying to write information to an invalid location. You need to change the location of your Temp Path. Create a new folder on the C: drive and name it for your backups( say movies). When in XCOPY set the TEMP PATH for the folder you just created (C:\movies). Make sure the folder is on a hard drive with at least 10Gb free space.

Thanks for the 2 replies

I dont think I put my message across correctly

When I said that DVD X COPY cannot write archive.txt.. It says this beore xcopy has even started to read the disc

Not quite sure why it says cannot write doesnt it mean cannot read archive.txt

Hope this helps

I believe what Ireland was trying to communicate was that when DXC rips a movie, it has to "write" it to a temp file on your HDD. If DXC doesn't have a valid temp file set up beforehand, it won't begin ripping. Ireland seems to think your temp file is invalid. Try his suggestion. He's usually correct ... and he IS the DXC Master! :-)

Best regards
