As of now (meaning at this moment in time, maybe not in the future), downgrading firmware from v1.51 or above is impossable by means available to the lay-person. period.

Anyone who says they have done it is sadly mistaken.

maybe it would be a good idea to have a Sticky thread explaining this to prevent any more beating of this long dead horse.

Actually downgrading IS possible. The problem is you have to either take a chance on hardware and possibly brick your PSP... or you have to be able to run code. If you can run code then there is no reason to downgrade.

Also someone outside of here is claiming to have done it within the past few days. That's why you see a mass of threads on every forum about downgrade. I don't know if it's the same guy that came in here claiming, but I'm about to find out.

another site already said (4 months ago) they have a way to downgrade using the PSP development kit but they have no plans on releasing the way because you cant do it without major modification. Sony would attack them in a heartbeat.

I don't know where you got your information from concerning downgrade dabs but I assure you you're wrong.

sure, team executor (with whatever extra caps and -'es) claimed they did it within a few weeks of the birth of the psp scene, but still have not presented any evidence.

ok, i should have said "no way to downgrade from a fw 1.51 or above," but that should have been implied because as you point out the only reason to downgrade is so you can run unsigned code.

the official psp sdk is easily available, but still no one has downgraded.

not a single person has ever proved it possable (although someone has claimed to every week), until that happenes it is reasonable to say it is impossable.

one verified case is all it takes, can you provide that?

So how do you know team executor isnt still testing this downgrade and making sure its positivley not gona hurt you psp, and very simple for the public to do so?????? oh but i guess it is impossible

I'm not going to fight with you and i REALLY have no need to prove myself. PM a mod have them trace my IP and tell you where i work.

next time you post try a search before starting a new topic that's already been covered.

If you want to copy what's going on in the xecuter forums then just stay there. you can obviously get more info and less noobs being its geared towards PSP and gaming in general.

thats fine - maybe they can, but the fact of the matter is that dont help us, it still dosnt let joe public downgrade his psp. the point is that its is impossable for us.

i am well aware the topic has been covered, but mostly with:

this thread was created purely in the hope that it would stay near the top and prevent these questons, a sticky explaining that they cant do it might stem the flow of questions on this topic.

incidently i have never been to xecuter's forums nor even knew they had any.
how is where you work relevent?

i am prepared to brick up my psp, by what method is a downgrade possable?

Well...It wont matter whether you can downgrade your psp once the 1337 H4x0rz crack 2.00...i will be able to run emus then..so it really doesnt matter to me...

Currenty impossible, sorry, nothin you can do. acually its 99.9% done to play homebrew on 1.51 or 1.52 etc, but the problem is to get the 100% you would need some type of modchip, but no one is willing to do it.

This is like GC scene back in the early days. It took them 4 years to get Viper GC. I bet we can expect a way of hacking this damn PSP in a year or so. Theres always a way. Consols have been hacked since nes-ps2,xbox,GC. Theres no argueing about it. Though the constant threads of people really hacking the PSP is quite possible, the people that have done it I guess keep it to themselves for security purposes. When a dumbass with balls find a way he'll post about it. :D
