Hi,

I have preordered a PSP from the UK coming out 1st Sep.

I want to be able to put ripped movies and mp3's on it, is this possible on the UK PSP?

Yes. Both features are available on the 2.0 firmware. The music setup is a little better on 2.0

The only thing you wont be able to do is play homebrew...well thats not true. There is limited homebrew available and you can not play ripped games yet.

So in your opinion would you say im better off staying with my UK preorder and wait for a homebrew hack or purchase a 1.50 system from ebay?

cfcboy it's up to you. You can either opt to run 2.0 and be able to play the new PSP games that are released, have an offical browser and get all the new stuff that sony puts in... or you can run old school games (nintendo, neo-geo, etc.) homebrew apps that people create, run burned games and a few other things. Can't make the choice for you but I would just buy 2 PSPs! ;)

If i get a 1.50 and load homebre on it can i still play all the umds from any region on it?

From what i've heard the 2.0 is very secure. There would be a better chance of changing the new games to not require 2.0.

I'm not going to say it not possible. there have been things that have really impressed me with the psp.

Yes you will be able to run all UMDs from any region as long as they don't require an update.

the chances are someone will find an exploit in 2.00

movie UMD's are region coded, but are you really going to buy any of those?


right now there is no way to run unsigned code on fw 2.00, so there is no homebrew out for it.
