I know that Decrypt got shut down so eventually the DRM's will surpase decrypts usfullness...but i didnt' think it would happen yet. I dont know if there is a problem with the disk, but i back up on a regular basis and this is the first problem with decrypt or shrink.
Decrypt gets like 32% through then encounters errors.
Shrink: Copy protection error, the max number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded.
p4 2.8 with 640mg DDR.
any ideas? Other program to backup with?
edit: i was trying to write iso to file with decrypt
I used AnyDVD in background, then opened disk with Shrink, reauthored to movie only, saved as ISO and burned with Decryptor.
You could try Decryptor in file mode/movie only. Then use Shrink reauthor mode to find/browse to the decrypted files on HD. Bring all to the left side of Shrink reauthor screen and click "backup".
You must have gotten a bad pressing or something.
I used Shrink w/Nero, and had AnyDVD running in the background, and it copied (whole disc) without a problem.
Good luck!
I agree with JVC that the copy you have must have issues (bad pressing), I only receive that message is when I use shrink to analyse the movie before I use one of my progs to make the back-up. I recently purchased a used copy of an older film, White Squall, after cleaning, repairing I still could not get shrink to analyse completely, so I took it back and they gave me another copy. It glitched a time or two (using my internal NEC DL burner), yet was flawless on th eexternal Sony DRU800 DL. I use AnyDVD in the background and I use a variety of progs (Rebuilder Pro/CCE as my #1 tool, Intervideo Copy 3 Plat., and Clone Dvd 2. Never any problems unless the original is in bad shape, or if i'm using bad media. I only use TY's, Verbatims, Sony's and Maxell. TY's and Verbs almost everytime. Try the 21 day trial of Intervideo Copy 3, or Clone Dvd 2...both are great progs and do a super job. If you want free...then try Rebuilder and use one of the free encoders that come with it (HC Hanks, QuEnc, or ReJig (Transcoder, but does a good job)) the install program can be downloaded at dvd-rb.com Pick up AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 combo from Slysoft. I backed this movie up twice, once with Intervideo Copy 3 Platinium (TY's 01) no problem, and Clone Dvd 2 (Verbs..no problem).
Hope this helps!

I myself have used AnyDVD because I couldn't do it otherwise. But later, I found out that the DVDD version I had was the 3.5.1.0. instead of the latest one (3.5.4.0.). Because of this, I couldn't copy the movie to my HD and use DVDShrink after and blah blah blah. Now with my curiousity, I tried it again since I now had the latest version. It worked! You don't need AnyDVD anymore... yet.
All you have to do is open DVDD, change the mode to file mode and copy it. After, go to DVDShrink and open files. Everything should be fine, you should be able to encode. When it's done, go again to DVDD and change your mode to ISO read mode. You should then be able to have your backup copy.
It might take a bit more time but you won't need AnyDVD yet. The thing about that software is that you only have a 21 days free trial and after, you have to purchase it. The way I look at it is that as long as there's a way to do backups with only DVDD and DVDShrink (which are both free), why not do it. All you have to do is keep AnyDVD at the back of your head and use it ONLY when you'll encounter a DVD that CAN'T be backed up with simply DVDD and DVDShrink. After all, DVDD isn't THAT old yet. It was made to go around the Sony ARccOS Protection before it stopped being updated.
But anyways, I'm kind of new to this whole thing so I might have some bits wrong. Anyways, good luck!
