I'm thinking of buying a new PSP, so it probobly won't be v1.5 or below. I've been looking around, and it seems that you can't do emulators or anything, but can I still take movies from my computer and put them on the psp? thanks a lot.

yes.. and since you probably wont be able to run homebrew anyway, you could install fw 2.00 and use the higher quality AVC codec for video.

So is it worth it to buy a new one? Is it ever going to be possible to play emu's? All i see in the other threads is people arguing over whether or not you can downgrade. thanks.

Sorry, two more questions. Is it possible to tell which version you have just by looking at the box? and is it illegal to run roms on there?

chances are someone will find an exploit for 2.00+ (no promisses) that will allow you to fun homebrew.

yup, you can tell what version by looking at the end of the serial number on the box, in the us -PSP1000K is v1.5 and -PSP1001K is v1.51

^^ those numbers are off the top of my head ^^


its illegal to run the roms unless you own the original game, so yes, as i assume you dont.

it is illegal to own some romswith out owning the game, but others are fair game. I know older Sega games fall under the catagory of abandon-ware.

Sony has changed the box to the original number in an attempt to keep people from running homebrew. As soon as I find the article i'll post it.
