Magic swap Problem!!

when i try to get it to work and it comes up on the magicswap 3.6 screen i try to load it and it says invalid ps2 disk, can someone tell me whats wrong?.
Im useing dvddecriptor, dvd-r disks, everything in my ps2 are in place i just have no clue?

I have the ps2 slim and the lid is always open because of the tools, but when i go to load the disk it says invalid ps2 disk, could you please tell me step by step how you work the magicswap

double check everything is fit securley in place even if you think they are sometimes a little push makes all the difference
also check to make sure that you are burning your discs at the lowest speeds possible
what type of discs are you using

ok im going to say this because this happen to most ppl. dont scream at me if u did. did u press the square button? i have 3.3 so whichever button says "special boot" is the one u want to press not "normal boot." like i said if u did keep in mind a lot of ppl dont hope this helps!

I?m in the same situation with my magic Swap 3.6; my ps2 isn?t seeing my backups as a valid disk. It won?t even take my original disk which is odd but it did take an original Japanese ps2 game which threw me in a loop. The game I'm working with is NBA Streets Vol 2 for testing. Won?t take backup or original ps2 disk with Magic Swap 3.6. Using DVD+R media disk. Extracting game with DVD Decrypter into .ISO format then burning the .ISO with NERO onto disk. (I'll try burning the .ISO with DVD Decrypter next time) If somebody has Magic Swap 3.6 can you tell me step by step what process your going through and what game it is, disk type, speed. Thanks?.

1. original ps2 game.
2. ripping ps2 games with dvd decrypter into iso format.
3. taking iso file to nero and then burning on to dvd+R disks.
4. inserted magic swap into ps2 and powered everything up.
5. got prompt screen.
6. tried setting to automatic and ntsc
7. used slider card to eject dvd.
8. took out magic swap and inserted backup (tested with original also)
9. close the bay drive and locked in switch with slider.
10. press the ok button (would read and try to load)
11. invalid disk message would then come up.
<< This method works fine with Japanese Original PS2 games but I don't have a copy to try with which sucks. Found out when I brought my ps2 with swapper to the store that sold me the device which they won't support>>

Keep in mind it won't play original ps2 disk that aren't backups but will play original japanese ps2 disk just fine when using the magic swap 3.6 dvd boot disk.

also make sure you're using the correct swap magic disk for the correct back up type,the cd or the dvd version. some ps2 games say dvd on the originals and some say compact disk

Hi,
I've been searching (a lot) for any solution to the Swap Magic 3.6 problem Tay_Weezy described exactly during September 2005
I've also tried CD and DVD SM 3.6 and my problem is I can't get orginals or the IMPORT I just bought to work. Get "Invalid PS2 Disk" message.
Many threads seem to finish with some fix relating to a different method of ripping DVDs but, like Tay_Weezy, I can't even get originals to work.
The thread seems to have gone cold. Can anyone share the SM secret?
I have the older style PS2 which works find with UK bought originals. I'm using the Slide Tool and, having watched the video, I'm pretty certain I'm using the tool correctly.
I'm pressing the X key when I see the "Video Mode" screen.
Thanks for any pointers...

Hi. Sure can clean the Laser. I'll experiment some more is a while.
Not too sure about adjusting it though. The "real" user of the system is my 12 year old son and he won't take it too well if the original games stop working 'cos he dad adjusted something.
Can you point me at any good URL's listing what needs to be done to adjust the laser? If it's reasonably simple I might try.
Thanks for the reply ...... I'll let you know if the lens cleaning makes any difference.

Been a while since I last showed up here. I've pretty much gaven up on a fix. Laser works fine since it plays games just fine and dvd movies. Just won't see valid disk when using the swap 3.6 software with original /backup disk.

The http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars URL is excellent.
But, cleaning the lens made no difference and, although the decription of how to adjust the laser provided on the URL is really detailed, I'm going to take the attitude "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
ALL UK games work fine and the Swap Magic 3.6 also seems to load without problems. That makes me think that the laser is OK and, while I agree that adjusting it might make a difference it also might not.
Just for the record I have
Console SCPH-30003R, Browser and CD Player 1.20, Playstation Driver 1.10 and DVD Player 2.10E.
Current plan is to try to get some money back on the two imports and put it down to experience. Don't get me wrong, from all the write-ups SM is a great tool but nothing can be 100% compatible with everything.

From your first post, I assume you mean that you tried loading an original with swap magic to see if that was the problem?
If so, then I'd say it's one of two problems that you have:-
1) You're not locking the tray back into position properly after swapping.
2) The swap magic dvd is not working.
Solutions to this are:-
1) Instead of loading the swap magic dvd/cd. Unlock the tray mechanism.. put in an original ps2 disc that normally works when ejecting and loading that way... push the tray all the way back in and lock it back into position and turn on the ps2 (do not hit the eject button!!) if it still doesn't load then hit the reset button and see if it loads.
If it still doesn't load then it's your slidecard method that's the problem... I would recommend either, keep trying with the slidecard and an original disc until it works or get a fliptop lid for the ps2 as it's much easier to use.
2) Send the swap magic discs back to where you got them from and ask for replacements.
Let us know how you get on with it please, it may help someone else with thsi problem to figure out their problem too, thanks.... and good luck with it :)

Sorry Folks, I know what I wanted to say but didn't say it as well as I could.
All UK original games work fine. The SM disks (CD and DVD) also boot fine.
When I swapped the DVD SM disk for an imported original I got the "Invalid PS2 disk" message (the actual message on this console is "Not a valid PS2 disc".)
Having power cycled and repeated the experiment with the CD SM disk I got the same error message.
I then power cycled and repeated the DVD SM disc experiment but swapped the SM disk for an original UK game which I know to work if I boot from it normally. I also received the error message.
It was a great suggestion to experiment with the slide tool. I ejected the tray; turned off the power to the console; inserted a UK original and closed the tray, locking it with the slide tool.
The game did not start when I turned on the power but it did as soon as I pressed the reset button. I did not eject the CD, just hit reset.
Could be defective SM disks but difficult to check out. The person who sold them to me say's he's happy to issue a refund but I'll ask him to check them out before he does. If he says the DVD SM disk is bad I'll be very happy to try again. As I mentioned earlier, seems like a great tool.
