I updated My Nero product to their newest update 6.6.0.16 from 6.6.0.15 for Nero and 3.1.0.16 from 3.1.0.14 for Nero Digital, basicaly all the updates they have now for Nero Ultra. The problem I am having is when I do the test drive feature checking the speeds of the disc as soon as I click on the start button I get this error "Error! No Additional Sense Information (080000)". I'm just wondering if anybody else who has updated to their newest updates has this problem also.I have emailed them but no reply, and I have reverted back to my previous version of Nero Ultra and everything runs fine again.

Nero emailed me today told me to redownload the updates but to do a clean uninstall and reg clean .I did all that and still the problem came up on Speed Test.I sent them info tool file from that version ,but it was a waste of time for me.It seems that I am the only one that has this problem,oh well shit happens.....

post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar..

first of all, there's not much wrong according to the logfile, the main offender is the media - the most awful DVD media there is. Period!. Here goes with the log....
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2285919 (507:58.69, 4464MB)
- you're burning too close to the outer edge of the discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size in Shrink's preferences to 4300MB, thus avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space..
Quote:
Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193
- 'fraid these are THE most atrocious inconsistent media that money can buy. If i was paid a penny for every post where these discs were mentioned, i could retire :)
Quote:

- wow, why so fast!. most people recommend 4x for video burns. plus you're torturing those (evil) discs which can't even work correctly at 4x

- do you use Nero's InCD (packet writing software) ?. if not, uninstall Nero, uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, reinstall Nero (hopefully 6.6.0.16 as it's been out long enough to be stable, however i've stayed at 6.6.0.15 for now purely cus i have zero problems with Nero), but DO NOT install InCD this time.

Thanks Creaky,I bought 100 Memorex dvd-r 8x disc for $15.00 and so far out of the 100 I have burned 55 of them sucessfully of 55 used.I know Memeorex are not a good disc to used but the price I could not beat and so far no problems. This was my 6.6.0.15 nero version that you are reading. I unistall the 6.6.0.16 version when the problems happened.I am still waiting for a reply from Nero on this, but I am wondering if it could be the incd program, because when I wanted to create a log file from 6.6.0.16 I had to rename the file index to .TXT to make it active but I don't know if that caused it.Thanks again....

you mentioning buying 100 discs - rings a bell from another thread now..cool, as long as you know that they're inconsistent..

anyway, see how you how by getting rid of InCD, setting the target size, oh and slow it down!..

i've never had a problem with Nero in many years, i just fix other people's problems with it!

see how you go with those things and let me know how it goes. Nero's top when you nail down the basics

I upgraded to 6.6.0.15 from either 6.6.0.13 or perhaps 6.6.0.14 (didn't use 6.6.0.15) then upgraded a few weeks later to the current 6.6.0.16 version. Can't seem to burn a DVD over 2.6x now with either Nero or DVD Decryptor. Ripped out all burning software (Audiblemanager, Decrypter & Nero) ran the Nero clean tool then cleaned the registry with another program. Reinstalled everything. Same slow burning problem plus the CD burning engine in Audiblemanager won't work anymore. I have never installed InCD.

It's taking quite awhile to burn 85gb of files to DVD's so I can format the HD, load Windows XP then reinstall all of my programs.

Man what a hassle! Oh & it's not the Ritek (yes I'll admit TY is better) media as I can burn it at full 8x speed on my dads computer 45 miles away...

@bratcher - you know what i'm gonna say here ......

post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar..

Ok, I can see why you say Last Section. Here ya go. DMA was turned on last night for the Plextor drive but Decryptor still wouldn't burn any faster than 2.5x...
