Back story: I have WinME, had Nero 5.something which burned fine with this current burner, same CD-R's as other successfull compilations. That's all I can think of right now, but will certainly supply more important info I've sure of forgotten to add. Anyway, I'm fairly experienced with converting video files to anything I need so that is why I upgraded when I felt I needed to.
The PROBLEM is this: Exception OE at 0028:C003C23E in VxD IOS(01)+000019BE. This was called from 0028:C1C2A300 in VxD Voltrack(04)+00000430. And of course that damn blue screen made me restart the cpu. This has only done this since that install of 6.6 from the old working 5.something. The solution is simple I'm sure, usually is, but this must have some conflict with some previous install of something else. I have Adaptec DirectCD installed, but that has been there for years. It might conflict with this install rather than the old one, I don't know. I also tried to do successfull searching for a solution using Google and finally this forum using the some keywords from above problem and the word Nero. Nothing really matched my specific problem. That is why I think it is something really simple, since not many people have this problem. Anyway, I can try to give read-outs of any logs anyone asks of me, tell me how, never had to before this.

I know it's pitiful, but I've saved close to a thousand dollars with this machine, hence right now as you might notice my hard drive space, that is because.... nevermind that.
After reading numerous threads from this site, I'm convinced you people really know your way around. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS:I don't think I explained what I was doing in the first place when this happened. I was going to burn some .OGM files to a CD, of course, then convert that to VCD on another CPU, which is actually slower than this one if you want a good laugh. It was the first time I tried to burn with this new install/upgrade. Anyway, that's that.

try uninstalling Nero, then completely zapping it with Nero's Clean Tools here - Nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html

do you still use packet writing software, if you don't need it anyway, get rid

What do you mean "packet writing software?" Hell I'll get rid of it ASAP. I downloaded all of the clean tools, will post results.

The install text file is encrypted.WTF!! I looked everywhere for something that might help but nothing come about. But what I did find out was that I didn't need to be doing anything without reading the install directions because "Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!" But the damn thing is unreadable. I'm sure there is a simple solution, just like most of everything. Thanks.

Well the hell with that screwed file, I'll kept searching and found this:Samsung is not responsable for problems during the firmware upgrade. When you encounter problems during the upgrade, please contact a Samsung Service Center.
If your drive is still in warranty please contact your retailer first.

The firmware BS04 of SW-208B

How to upgrade in Windows.

1. Download the zip to your computer.
2. Unzip the zip file, you can find the "SFDNWIN.EXE" and "BS04.BIN"

3. Run the SFDNWIN.EXE(windows 95/98,ME or sfdnw2k(win2000) file on windows.

4. When there"s pop-up menu, you choose SYSTEM.
Press the OPEN, and take the file what you want to down.

5.If you press the FLASH, Download is started.

6. When the FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD is completed, power the PC off.
Boot up the PC again.

It wasn't talking about BT04 but BS04, it had the same files along with it though. I figure if that process works for that, than it must work for this, considering it deals mostly with the same animal. I followed the instructions and simulated a burn and succeded. This is the Log from the successfull simulation/burn:

see here for more info on how to upgrade your firmware. the obvious scary warning applies here, don't power off or reset pc until it's finished or tyour burner might be toast - http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=37412#37417
Quote:
Physical memory : 510MB (522636kB)

Memory in use : 62 %
- there'll be a big problem, you've run out of memory, you gotta free up as much memory as you can prior to any burns. your hard disc will be 'swapping' and that's also bad for any disc work
Quote:
Finalize CD : FALSE
Multisession : TRUE
Multisession type: : Start multisession
- fyi, did you intend to do a multisession disc.

End of disc reached
- that sounds obvious......

and don't forget to look at anything i mentioned before if you're still having problems..

Alright, I tried to upgrade the firmware- it isn't working, still the same old one. I used sfdnwin.exe and not the recommended one, but I don't know how to make a back up disk, never had to do one before.
Why would give me the end of disc reached error if I had room to go?
I don't understand "however it doesn't seem your using whole disc. See what i said about memory, this is probably a red herring...
" What do you mean by red herring? I can try again to burn another disc with 85%+ system resources free, but I tried to simulate before I burned this last one and it cleared- then while doing the real thing right after it, it naturally screws up another one of my cds.
I'm gonna step away from this cpu for a couple of hours, before I turn into that famous guy in that video of him slamming his fists down on his keyboard and finally grabbing it and hitting the monitor with it. Hehehehe.
But really I'm stumped and it pisses me off. I just don't get how I could be running everything so fine before I upgraded to this new version. I didn't have any failures due to discs supposedlly full when their not, firmware out of date, out of memory, other files conflicts with Nero. None of that. None. Until now I guess. WTF?
Sorry for my rantings.

no worries, it does get frustratin when stuff don't work. if the sfdnwin.exe program doesn't work there is one or more alternative dos (command line) versions that are further up the page in that link i provided earlier.

Running out of memory is real bad, you need to have sufficient free memory prior to doing any burning. close more programs down before burning anything.

Once you've followed all my suggestions you should be burning again..

Stupid Question Alert:
Is there a way to the sfdnwin.exe fix without doing a Boot disk?
I never done one before, if I can bypass it, I would, but really I don't have the time tonight to learn like I should, but if I have to, I will learn tomorrow. I know, that was a run-on sentence. Anyway, I will wait for stupid answers to my stupid question. Just joking :)
