I am wondering how to pull certain episodes from a DVD (Soprano's, Band of Brothers, 24, etc) while keeping the menu entact.

A friend of mine recently gave me a few episodes of Band of Brothers. The original discs have 2 episodes per DVD, in order to avoid compression he burned 1 episode per DVD±R, but he was somehow able to keep the original menu. He was also able to disable the menu selection for the episode that is missing. In other words, the first disc he gave me only has episode 1, the original menu appears but you just cant select episode 2.

I know how to pull episodes from the DVD using DVD Shrink, but Im pretty clueless as to how to rip menus in this fashion, or any other for that matter. I am currently trying to make copies of 24 season 1 for someone from my originals. Im planning on including 2 episodes per DVD±R but would like to include the brief intro and menu from the originals.

Any help, suggestions or directions are much appreciated, thanks.

Easy, but you have to buy it ... not too expensive though. Get CloneDVD2 and Any DVD. You can choose to put 2 episodes on backup disk1 and the other 2 episodes on disk2. Both will have menus as long as you checked the "Keep Menus" box.

Sorry I never tried to learn DVD Shrink. I always preferred the look and feel of CloneDVD.

CloneDVD is the way to go as long as you don't have to do any compression. The compression encoder is terrible, even at 95%.

CloneDVD2 is the way to go to do that. You can download it and have it on trial for a whole 21 days to get the hang of it before you purchase.

When splitting episodes, if the disc has a "Play All" selection this may also appear as a Chapter (with a time equalling the total of all episodes)in the Title Configuration screen. So you may also have to uncheck this 'chapter'.
