Converting .avi/mpeg to .ifo, .vob, .bup ???

Hi I'm new, I just recently bought a laptop and I specifically asked for a dvd/cd burner. The salesman sold me a computer with the Nero software and said I would be able to burn dvds and videos taken with my digital camera. When I try to burn a dvd it says that it must be in .ifo, .vob or .bup. How do I convert .avi, mpeg and .mov to these extensions? I have Nero Express. Thank you in advance.

Use VSO DivX To DVD

Input the .avi, .mpg, .mov, etc. and press convert. Simple and MUCH FASTER than method in the post above mine. You can then burn the .ifo,.vob,.bup with Nero burning rom.
