I just opened up my port on my router (linksys wrt54g) and am finally getting green smileys on Azureus.

I was told, however, that now that the port is opened....anyone can look at my computer/files. is this true? How do I stop it?

I am using Norton Internet Security 2005, i thought the Norton Firewall still protects me?

Thanks

Not True.

A port is a bilateral data transfer communication pipeline. YOU NEED IT to download.

Keep your firewall enabled and virus scan once a week and you'll be fine.

In addition to using NIS 2005, try using other cleaners to compliment it,

Like XoftSpy, Trojan Hunter, and Ad-Aware, etc.

Your Norton firewall will only allow communication on ports that you allow through the various applications you may have.

Your router(hardware firewall) protects you after Norton(software firewall), and it needs to know what ports you will allow communication on.
