Using usb cable for online play

I've seen this on a few websites yet they all say users can also play online via usb or the psp's wireless capabilities with a router.

ANd then they show guides on using the psp with a wireless router but nothing on the usb connectivity.

Has anyone tried this?
Is it possible??

If not then can I use the ad-hoc mode for conecting to my laptop without a router. (I dont plan to buy one)

cant use ad-hoc, to connect or usb,,, however you can use a router wireless wifi capabilites and connect it to the psp.
