I believe Nero will get its CDtext information from a .CUE file, e.g. CDImage.ape.cue pointing to CDImage.ape and burns it to disk.
But what about the Nero Cover Designer (versus Roxio).
I don't see where the Nero Cover Designer can make use of this information. If I recall, if I go in to the Nero Cover Designer RIGHT AWAY, like at burn time, it may see this info, but if you insert the CD later (database turned off) it doesn't access the CDtext it burnt to the disk.
I also don't see where it can do an Internet CDDB or FreeDB.org lookup of even a store bought CD.
Ironically, when I open a Nero burnt Audio CD in Roxio Jewel Case Creator, the ARTIST and ALBUM name appear on the front cover and on the spine, and the song TITLES are there for each track on the inside cover and on the back insert. If the CD Text exists from Nero, Roxio does not bother doing a Internet Lookup. If the Cue file contained "Track1" instead of a Song Title Roxio will print "Track1" but Media Player may recognize the disk and access the Internet for Track Info.
In any case as long as I check the CUE file to make sure song titles are included before burning with nero I get what I want from the Roxio Jewel Case creator if there is only one Artist for the whole album.
But what about an OEM compilation where the performer for each track is a different person. What if anything did Nero do with the Artist "Del Wood" in the example below from a CUE file?
TRACK 05 AUDIO
TITLE "What A Feeling"
PERFORMER "Del Wood"
INDEX 01 25:05:40
Because Roxio is only going to print the TITLE "What A Feeling" and doesn't see the Performer.
Nero Cover Designer on the other hand I believe would see both, but ONLY at BURN time. It can't read the text it burnt, not even the TITLE once you exit the burn session.
