trouble updating firmware for CDR drive

I have been trying to update firmware for my Philips CDD4401-71 CDR
I got Philips flashtool and started the update but it said I needed to install Adaptec ASPI so I did that. After numerous reboots the Flashtool still keeps saying I need to load ASPI. It doesn't seem to recognize it's already loaded.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
