When using Nero Vision Express to copy .avi files on to DVD so that most DVD players can use them, I seem to lose the sync of the audio and visual.

Is there anyway of stopping this?

Or any software that someone can recommend? Freeware preferably but am willing to purchase.

I've been using TMPGEnc Plus for a few years now. You can download the trial version from http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tp.html

It's only $37 to register now, and works with many freewares. There is a long thread or three on the forums here called "PAL TO NTSC" that gets into it in detail, but what happens a lot of times is you convert an .AVI file with a framerate of 25 fps or less to NTSC at 29.97 fps during the video conversion, so the audio lags behind.

This shows one method to avoid the audio out of sync and it's my favorite method at least for now.

One thing I like about TMPGEnc Plus is you can set it to output separate video and audio files when converting to DVD. That makes
it easy to use DvdAuthorGUI freeware to author a DVD for free. :)

OTOH if your .AVI video is already in NTSC format you can usually just put it through DivXtoDVD free version to get a good VIDEO_TS file set
to burn with Nero as a DVD-Video.

If you drop your .AVI file on AviCodec freeware it will tell you all the info such as aspect ratio, framerate, audio and video codecs needed etc..

My basic plan on most video conversions is to use as much freeware as possible to convert the video, if needed, to an .iso image. Then I just burn with Nero Burning Rom 6603. If Nero doesn't complain when you input the .iso file to burn then it almost always comes out good.
