Good Eve All :>)

My PC is an aging Dell with a a 600
megahertz Intel Pentium III
32 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache.

Dell Dimension XPS
Pentium 3, 598 MHz , 384
RAM, a 80 GB & a 20 GB
HARD DRIVE,
with Win XP Home Edition

I also have a PIONEER DVR-A05U &
I just ordered Nero 6 Ultra.

I want a powerful PC that will be able to
among other things, copy, edit with ease &
send my old VCR tapes to DVD quickly & be
able to get quality DVD's.

I wish to work a lot with (my love) Video &
photos of all kinds. I am also a game lover.

I need a lst of every thing I would need to
Upgade such as:

What processor to get along with any details
I will need to find it.

Will I need a new graphics card? If so, what
kind?

Or anything else I will need.

Thank you for your valuable time,

Meliy :>)

it is extremely easy for me to put together a nice system for you but you left out one basic requirement for me to get started, what is your budget?

yea everything is fine, except when i as putting the parts together, i later on found out that my psu/pc 3200 ram went bad on me, so i had to change it and the guys gave me an extra 30watt supply, so i have 450watts now, and the pc3200 rram was the last one, so i had to use their pc2100 until they got a shipment of the 3200. but i had one problem going on with the 2100 i was able to overclock up to 2.88ghz from 2.4ghz, but with the 3200 i cant even get up to 2.69. maybe it was my graphics card who wouldnt let me do that because the image on some short online previous were all purpelish, so im gonna try in a little bit to over clock it, and let you know whats happening.

the 2100 was probably lower latency ram allowing for tighter voltages although I'm no expert with overclocking, I know it has nothing to do with your graphics card.do you have a 2t command in your bios? if so up the voltage on your ram a little and try running it at 2t or 1t if it can. I think the 3200 is 3-3-3-8.

lol i would love to upthe voltage on anything, but thats going above my expertise if u konw what i mean, so im not really wanting to go there until i find out more on how all the things work with that, but if the 2.88ghz stumbles on the online game im about to go play i'll jus tput it back on reset "2.4ghz"

Thank you for your time techguy26 :>)

WOW!!

Gee techguy26 I dunno. Let me see how much I
can get for the hubby & kids. LOL

When I said I wanted a more powerful system,
I had no idea just how powerful that could be!
It looks to me like your system could get you
& your family to Mars! Now I know I have a
piece of poopie here! But it is my poopie "sigh".

All I want is to upgrade my PC to be able to
RUN, STORE then EDIT and send my OLD VCR tapes
to DVD in at least one hour. PIONEER says I can't
do these things now as my PC is not up to snuff.

I want to start with a old VCR tape & within
an hour, end up with a quality DVD that will
run in my VCR or my PC any time I want to.

I have never done this kind of work before.
I have no idea how much this will cost since
I don't know what I will need to accomplish this.
With out any help, I tried but couldn't even
figure out what Processor I would need for this PC.

All I know is that I have the faith in myself
to do the work. I know how to ask questions &
how to scream HELP! & how to look for it. I have
upgraded my memory, my hardrive & installed my
PIONEER DVR-A05U with no problems what so ever.

Please don't forsake me techguy26. We all must
start from somewhere. When I grow up I want to
build a PC as advanced as yours & be called
techgirl51. I am teaching my kids all I know too.

melly your going to need a new proceesor, motherboard, and case. you simply cannot upgrade your current motherboard with a new cpu it is limited by the p3 architecture.

edit dell uses proprietary cases to not allow easy user upgrades

edit 2 also you will need a tv tuner or a video card with vivo to allow the hookup of a vcr to rencode to dvd, and new memory for your new motherboard.

it sounds hard but believe me it isn't, it is all about your budget, but if you want to gor from vcr tape to dvd in one hour you will need one heck of a computer!
