I only have a 4 speaker system. When I play a 5.1 file or a DVD I get the correct surround sound. When I play a 5.1 encoded mp4 from recode I get the same thing out of the front and rear speakers. This is true whether I play it using ShowTime or WMP10. I thought it might have been a setting in ShowTime. Is there a way to use something to strip the audio off to look at it to see if that's what's getting encoded or if that's just what's getting played back. I was actually looking for some software to strip off and look at (waveforms) 5.1 tracks if anyone knows of one, even if it has nothingto do with the answer to my original question
