Nero won't burn image files (DVD and CD)

I have a weird problem with Nero 6.6.0.16 (it happened on 6.6.0.8 as well). When I try to burn an image file (cd or dvd), it "won't work". There is no problem during the burning process, but when I try to use it after it is done, the cd/dvd is blank. And it is not possible to burn something else on it.
Other things like burning an audio cd and a data cd works just fine with Nero, so I don't understand why the image burning process won't work.
I hope anyone know what is wrong, because I'm starting to get furious about this problem..
PS: I use Windows XP SP1, and I have a Nec 3500AG device.

i suspect crappy media, but it could be other things as well.
Post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

- try better media

I changed the firmware, cleaned and reinstalled Nero and burned an image at 24x (used the same media), and it worked!

nice one!, and as to the Verbatim dvd's, very good choice indeed, my first choice for dvd media. happy burning
