I have a 11 MB wireless connection I'm using, but am not sure how to properly set up the two programs. My mIRC doesn't seem to be connecting and I'm not even sure if Azureus will work correctly because of the port problems? My school has a firewall, my laptop does not. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

11MB don't you mean 1.1mb, School firewalls LOL have a word with the guy whos operating the firewall at your school.

Your laptop i presume thats for home use? what connection do you have at home?

Or are you attempting to access internet using your schools connection?

More info needed

I'm at school right now. It's a 11 mbps connection. I'm just trying to get it set up correctly. I am connected through the wireless or I can plug-in to connect in my room.

yes dkang, choose a random port. they might be leading you into something nasty, because I don't think they would approve of you D/L torrents off their internet connection. If they reconise the Azureus port they might strip your privalige of internet access.

I'm unsure how to change the listening port on Azureus, someone will guide you though.

on Azureus what do I set my speed as? If I plug-in, it says I have 100 mbps, but obviously it does not go that fast. I'm not sure exactly what you guys mean by the random port. I went to mIRC and played around with the settings and still get the same message:

* Unable to connect to server (Software caused connection abort)
-
* Connect cancelled

I can't get on any major servers. I'm not sure which settings to put it on. We have to have our personal laptop firewalls off and there's a main firewall we use. The speed might vary because they bandwidth availability at different times of day. I can use wireless or plug-in directly. Sorry, this is my first time having to go through hassles trying to connect to this stuff, the most problem at home I had = dealing with my router ports.

Sorry for being so noob =/

Well BearShare works. The head of the internet department told us that we were discouraged to download, but we could. They just have our bandwith for downloading at lowest priority.

So I have no idea which port to use. I'm trying to set it up and initally it will not work. I think if I ask to open a port, they will monitor it so what should I do? I really want to use Azureus/mIRC
