Hello,

I have a new Dell running windows XP with 2.8ghz and 512 ram I just got the PC in March and all has been well with it until today. I went to load a CD and nothing happened I check in "My Computer" and there was no D: Drive present, weird....so I look in the device manager and there was no CD ROM listed there either!!! like it was virtually gone. When I put a CD in it spins and lights up but after that nothing, I went to the MS site and did the thing where you delete the upper and lower filter thing and still nothing....I can't load the driver disk that came with my PC cause it won't read it I suspected a driver issue, the PC has not been opened so I can only guess that the cables are attached fine since it has power and spins....any thoughts?

Thanks for reading!!

the power cable is probably installed but the IDE cable may not be since it isn't being recognized

open the computer & reseat both data & power cables from the drives to the motherboard. but remember if you open it than might void warranty so contact dell 1st before doing anything.
