I bought a Dell Dimension 4700 with Pentium 4 that came with Sonic RecordNow. I have noticed that on some of the cds I've burned, there is static on some of the songs. My cds are in perfect condition and play fine on my stereo, my computer and my discman, so I don't know where the static is coming from. If I take the time to re-record the disc, most times the static doesn't come back. But I don't always have time to listen to every cd I burn.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I use CD-Rs mainly, but have had the problem on CD-RWs as well. I'm thinking it's the software and am inclined to purchase Nero, but perhaps it's a hardware issue, something with the cd drive or the laser? It doesn't hapen every time I burn a cd, but it happens enough that it's a big concern.

It's like a static sound, like you get when you're between radio stations, almost like a crackling.

Can anyone help?

The only time I have had questionable quality with making music CD's is from some music files downloaded from the net. A few files had a strange high pitch something, unpleasent to listen to sound, it's hard to describe. But I have never had a problem making copies of my own CD's. I have used and still use Sonic to make music CD's

My son's computer has Nero and I do prefer to use it over Sonic for creating music CD's, especially MP3 CD's. Just personal preference.

I just want to add one thing, If you can record the same thing a second time with no problem, I would suggest that you consider using different media. You might have a bad batch
