How can I reduce the dynamic range of audio files so I can listen to them in the car. I am talking specifically about classical music cds. The quiet parts are too soft to be heard while driving.

I do not want to normalize the audio, that would not solve the problem, however a similar procedure that would identify quiet sections and only amplify those is what I am looking for.

Thanks
