I ve just purchased a PIONEER PDP-502MXE 50" Plasma screen off of ebay at a massive discount. However, there is a reason that it was heavily discounted it has 2 problems.

Firstly, in the top left hand corner the words Sky News appear to be burnt onto the screen. I heard something about if you display a white screen for a few hours this will remove the burn. Is this true? If so where could I get a program that displays a white screen, If its not true as anyone got any other ideas?

Secondly, There are a dots over the screen that make the picture look fuzzy. What causes this? Is there any cure for the problem?

Any help very much appreciated.

I have heard the same thing. It's not a program, you turn off the colors until you have a white screen. Not sure how long, but I recall more than a few hours. As far as dead pixels, I don't believe there is a cure.

Its called white-washing. There should be an option for it somewhere in the menu of unit (Unless its a 1st Gen). White-washing takes about 24 hours.

Cheers for all the answere guys but the sale fell through. My fault as well! I was going to pay for it with the money I made from selling my old tv but the buyer decided not to..er..buy. So I contacted the seller apologised and sent him £20 through paypal to cover the relisting costs and his inconvenience.

It was going to cost £510 and when it was released 4 years ago it was £9000!!! I think it would have caused me a few headaches trying to get fixed though. I have a rear projection at the mo I have spent many a bloody hour and losing hair trying to get the convergance correct!!!
