I record TV programs in my computer and sometimes I edit them and save them on DVD but some these programs could not get converted with my click to DVD editing software which came with my computer, it comes back with a error.

for free you really don't have a whole lot of choices. its actually worth the few hundred dollars to invest in a professional editing application like adobe premiere pro, or avid xpress.

good news for you is that avid offers a free version of their editor, called Avid Xpress Free. Its pretty limited though. Only two tracks of audio and 2 tracks of video, and you cannot export to movie files. you can only export via firewire.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

how are you importing the files to your computer? A capture card or through firewire?

It is a capture card and most of the time it works fine but sometimes at random the file looks corrupted or it may be copy protected even though it is already save in my hard drive. I just can't figure it. I can watch the movie but can't convert it.

are you capturing though premiere? How long are your recording for? Perhaps the length is too long and corrupting the file somehow. What is it importing as, DV AVI?

Like was already said, you should go the extra mile for software...
i think you should get Nero...
Use Nero Vision express...
trust me, ask anyone on this site it is worth the money...
also buy the DVD plugin from them and movies away cause it can burn your files to disk after editing...
make sure to trial the software first so as not to waste your money if disappointed...
just putting in my 2 cents...

Roxio EMC 7.5 is a far more robust editing program than Nero. Nero is extremely limited when compared to EMC's VideoWave portion of the suite.
