Hi
I have a weird problem , using nero burning rom 6,3,0,2
i have authored a DVD in DVD Studio Pro on my mac , wich works well everywhere, and i have no problem to burn the VIDEO_TS folder with nero.... well the first copy that i burn...
When the burn is finished, i eject the DVD, close nero, put a new blank DVD and start nero again, then the burn freeze somewhere around 21% and 33% .... during the lead-in, before the buffer gets filled.
Nero gives me no error, in the status it says '' burning at 4X ....'' the light of the burner is flashing, like if its busy ( a LG burner 12X on the p-III and a LG 16X on the AMD K8) but nothing happens, it dosen't evolve.... once i have waited 20 minutes, still at the same place.. 21% ... and when i kill the application, my DVDs are scraped
it is doing the same thing on both PC... I have to restart the damn machine between every burn..
it is not normal
does somebody already had this problem?
is it something i can do about it?
thank you very much for your help

It is always wise to reboot after each burn, most here do it, including myself.

@zubov -
can't help you with Mac stuff, but for Nero burning on a PC - post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. Sounds like a media problem to me but i'll happily look thru the Nero log and point out any necessary tweaks..
@pulsar - wow, Microsoft must be bad (on your PC) for you to have to reboot so often. Now i work with big Unix servers so for me the whole notion of Microsoft and it's reboots is offensive to me :)
(in fact one of the reasons i wouldn't want to work in PC support is my anti-reboot stance but i digress lol).
I burn like a madman and tend to leave my PC on the whole time that i'm at home (ie PC only ever goets shutdown or rebooted when i'm asleep or at work) and provided a PC is working correctly there's no need for constant reboots. The only reason to do that would be if there was some program that had a memory leak..

@creaky: thanks so much for taking the time to explore the Logs, it is eally appreciated....
I did some durns since this error, but after scrolling the logs, i did manage to found something containign errors....
this is the log of a burn, wich i specified multiple copies, in the menu, (at the question : number of copies: i have typed 2)
the problem i was mentionning dosen't appear in the logs, ( when i burn a first copy, then i close the app, restart Nero, open the saved project, and burn another copy) maybe because when it freezes, at the second burn, the whole application is not responfding, and i have no choice than hitting cntrl-alt-del and kill the app. Maybe this is the reason why it dosen't write a log for that.. maybe i kill the app before it write it.
But still, The multiple copies isin't working, and there is a great possibility that the two problems are related.
Once again, thank you for your time and help.. it is eally appreciated
So here is the log:

I'm not sure to know how to free up more memory..... can i allocate more memory to Nero? because i had only winXP and Nero running..... i even shut down my anti-virus when i burn.... should i type cntrl-alt-del and kill every non-system processus?
Thanks

Sounds like you got a handle on keeping enough memory free then. Just mentioned that before in case you didn't know. Cool. Let us know how you get on with the other stuff and make sure to report back, good or bad progress

Sorry, i feel a bit stupid, But i have searched a few hours for this post about freeing up some memory, still don't fint it.... i dont know if i didn't used good keywords, or limited my research to specific forums,
but can you link me to this post?
..or is it something else to do than closing all applications, and kill all process in the task manager?
thanks
By the way, i did updated the firmware of my two burner, and installed the last Nero version.. since then i had no problems, but i haven't burned a huge batch of dvd yet....
I was using princos, but i think i will give a try to the verbatim datalife plus, ou the TY, like i saw in diffrent posts.... is the any other good that are worth it?
Have a nice Day

512mb is sufficient and as long as you don't leave loads of stuff running, ie in taskbar at bottom of screen, you should have enough memory free. What I always do is open task manager and you can then see how much is used/free

Finally, i had the opportunity to test my both burners ( LG12X and LG16X ) and the new version of Nero , and it works fine... i burned 40 DVD yesterday evening, never rebooted any machine, and only did succesfull burn.....
That was a good thing because i had only 1 spare DVD left to meet the quantity asked...
anyways thanks creaky, you are the pro....
You really solved my problem, and i appreciate it a LOT
Have a good day and God bless forums on the net ;)

You're welcome, but there's nothing to it with standard dvd burns really, just get the basics right/up to date, throw in some decent media and bobs your uncle. Happy burning, well you are happily burning with 40 burns, wow, welcome to the nonstop burning club :)
