I've been backing up my DVDs using dvd shrink and Nero Express 5 for a while now, no problems, but I've got a new computer with a dual layer dvd burner, and Nero won't recognize it as a burner. However, I downloaded a demo of another program (Satiera CD/DVD burner) and it recognized it just fine and is burning away right now. (I love the 64 bit processor! I used to have to leave my computer while it was burning DVDs because it got too slow, but this one runs normally. Sick.)

SO- Here's the question: Stick with Nero or jump ship? If I do stick with it, how do I get it to see my burner (will a version upgrade do it?), and if I jump ship, where to? Any other good packages out there?

I'm not backing up games or anything, just my movies.

Thoughts?

get an updated version of Nero as version 5 probably dosen't have the updates for your burner. always do updates when getting new hardware as software might not recognise the hardware & that includes windows.

i'd go with Nero. the jump to 6.x.x.x is a cost option though (ie from 5.x.x.x to 6.x.x.x costs).

as ddp said, your new burner obviously isn't catered for in version 5, dvd burning came late on in version 5..

Thanks for the help. I'll do the upgrade ASAP and that'll probably fix the issue.
