Should make a quick question hopefully, but I have been waiting for awhile for the prices of the PSP and the iPod to go down, and there I geuss reasonable now... I WAS certain that I was going to get a 20GB or 40GB iPod, becuase I listen to music alot, so that is what it will be used mostly for, but, I do like having the option to have multiple options in-one, such as the main part, gaming. So I started thinking about the PSP, also it takes some SD card?, so I could pretty much have unlimited music, where the iPod would eventually reach a limit. There not too far apart in price range, although I seen this on eBay lol, thats probably will be where I would purchase either, seeing as im on a roughly around $300 CAN. So, I am just asking all of you, what you would go for. Thanks alot!

I own the psp and love it, it gives you so much more options to chose then just music, ipod only has music , psp has mucis, movies, games, and now availble on version 2.0 a web browser or if you get a version 1.5 all the homebrews your memory card can handle, so if i was you i would buy a psp over a ipod ANYDAY

ok thanks for you suggestion and reply. I was leaning towards the PSP anyways, so the more suggestions the better. So I have been reading up on the 1.5 and 2.0 features, and I REALLY would want the 1.5 if it allows you to have your backups on the memory card, but that would then also mean no Internet Browsing? Hmm, thats kinda tough for me... I assume they are working on a way to allow Browsing with the Homebrewing?
Thanks again.

maybe you didn't read about it or maybe you just didn't see it, but you can browse the net with wipeout pure, however it is a little limiting such as no cusor, but with all the homebrew, the lack of a cursor is only a little annoying, however, there is also the app that tricks your 1.5 PSP into thinking it's 1.51, 1.52, or 2.0 without actually upgrading your firmware.

It depends on what you want to do. Do you want to a) Play Games? Or, B)Listion to Music?
An iPod is not a PSP and a PSP is not an iPod granted you can play Music on the PSP but, you will not be able to use iTunes or the iTMS either. The PSP is bulkier and more 'SCRATCH PRONE'! then an iPod. The iPod can only do one thing granted but it does it with such grace that nothing out there can match it. And allas the PSP is no iPod Killer no matter what Sony tries to tell ya.
Needlees to say besides Solitaire (on 3G and above) and Brick on all your Gameing options are very limited on the iPod.
The best advice (to kill you Wallet), is to try and get both!

Lol, haha, yea man if i could get both I wouldnt have posted this question. Im 15 with no job :( But as of now I only have 300 CAN, so that kind of limits buying both. And you asked what I am using it for, Games, or Music. And I would be using it for both. So thats why I think I should get the PSP. Yea I did hear it scratches easily and is fragile, but I think I could take care of it :P

Well bmxer4lyf, do you have no more than $300? If not, then don't expect to get to listen to a bunch of music. If you want to play games, you have no choice but get a psp, but keep in mind that it only comes with a 32meg card and 1 gig sticks are around a hundred bucks (ususally more). I love my psp, but I don't really use it for music. It's best used for games, movies and apps if you ask me.

PSP is a beter investment, it's worth mor ethan $250, and ipod isn't worth the price they charge. Sony makes the money off the games.
Whereas the volume isn't as strong on the PSP, bass and sound quality is much higher. The ipod has better file organization and inexpensive capacity.
If you are aiming at music, you need a ipod mini 4GB, cheap enough. And then buy a PSP later.
If music isn't a huge interest then go PSP.
The only problem is that the PSP does not organize songs yet, except alphabetically in one list. Eventually an update will make the SPS more versatile for music but until then an ipod or other straight digital music player is a better choice.
Go with a used 4GB ipod and a used or new PSP, you'll happy with that I garuntee it man. I have a 6GB and a PSP. You need both. Best of both world dude.

To counteragument the point about scratching up an iPod. This is why they make what's loningly referd to as iCondoms (Sillicone Cases), if you'd want better protection then that? Then you'd want a Showcase Cover. I had my iPod in such an iCondom now for over a year and it still looks as good as new. No doubt that the PSP will eventually attract as much attention but the only real option is to use a Static Sticky PDA Protector. To keep the Screen from getting fuxxed up.

I own both the Psp and a Ipod (U2 Version)If you're a big music freak I'd suggest the Ipod if you want to watch movies, music, etc. I would go with the PSP, but seeing that the 2 gig memory card is just coming out for the Psp. Nothing beats a good 20,40,60 gigs you get from a Ipod, that's alot of music compared to 2 gigs of music you'd get from the PSp. Also when you get a Psp and a bigger capacity memory card, you manage to fill it up with more videos than you do music.
Hit up the Ipod first and wait for the Psp second. You wont regret the purchase. There's only but a handfull of games right now, that are not so great anyways. Keep it cool and wait up a little bit for a price drop and for the game library to get bigger.

Well like I said the PSP is no iPod KILLER! LOL XD
The only iPod killer out there is that elusive Next Gen. 80Gib iPod. That may or may not have Video capability!
In short the only so called iPod KILLER!, out there is another more clolorfull larger capacity iPod.
Besides nothing attracts more crap like the iGuy (iCondom for 4G/Mini/Photo) that has Gumby like Arms and Legs. Sit him on the Dock and it looks like it's takeing a Dump! lol
It might be awhile before we see a PSPGuy (at least I hope so)...

Well that depends on how much music you listen to. You can always change the songs on it you know.

No it only takes Memory stick DUO or Pro DUO.
@uji2b1k and SelokFith
There are other homebrew web browsers as well

Um feel free to jump in anytime. But, are you 100% sure about PRO? IIRC PRO's are alot thicker then your avaerge Duo! I'd say by easaly twice the Thickness!

It excepts any MS DUO, which is regular and PRO.
It's highly likely that the next PSP will have a micro HDD, 4GB at the least, they can make them so small now.

Is there going to be a new PSP release? If so, I might as well wait for that one.

It won't be for a couple of years, 2-4 is a wide range but a safe guess. No use in waiting, way too long of a wait.
