I need advice on what to do with my psp. For some reason all I can do is turn it on, but when it's on the screen stays black and I can't turn it back off. The battery eventually runs out and I have to recharge it only to start the whole process over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know whether this helps, I just lifted it from the instruction manual.:
"Check that the LCD screen's backlight is not turned off. If it is, press any of the system buttons to turn on the backlight."
I guess you've already read that, but in case you hadn't...
Why are instruction manuals habitually unhelpful?!

I wish it were that simple. Absolutely nothing works. The light is on and the battery runs down like normal, but the screen is still black and pushing buttons is completely useless. Thanks for trying though, much appreciated.

Considering sony fixed alot of ps2's for a small shipping and handling fee of 3 bucks, i wouldnt be suprised, if they did fix it, second, have you tried taking the battery out, and putting it back in, and thrid, can you hear the psp turn on? like make that begining sound when it turns on?

I have not tried contacting Sony yet. I was told they would provide little, if any help. I'll have to try it anyway. Yes I've taken the battery out and no, there is no sound, no image, nothing. The green light comes on and eventually turns of(when the battery runs out).
