[I'm new to working with CDs, and new to Nero]

Told InCD to format a CD-RW disk. It took about 25 minutes to format, and then switched to "Scan RW disk and register all Defective Sectors".

It took about 25 minutes to get to 85% done, and has now taken another HOUR(!) to get to 90% done.

Might I do better with another brand of disk?
(I'm now using Memorex brand 700-MB 80-minute 1X-4X media)

TIA
Gerry

Then at an elapsed time of 02:33:00 (94% done) InCD ejected my disk and halted, displaying Error Code
00a8-0003-0011-0005

Sigh!

There are 2 things you need to do.

01) get rid of InCD completedly
02) get rid of "Memorex" aka "Memosux" or I called it Shitmorex.

Now get the latest from Nero 6.6.0.16, then do me a fovor and get yourself some high quality such as Taiyo Yuden (including Fuji and Sony "Made In Japan", Maxell and Verbatim.

Thanks Al!

I tried another disk (out of the same Memorex box) and this one worked right. But for future use I will get other disks.

Thanks!

It seems to be the ONLY thing in my OEM-bundled version of Nero that works consistently well!!

i'm with alkohol, InCD is bad enough, but pairing it with bad media is a recipe for disaster

Okay, Creaky--

I took a look at
http://cd-burning-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
where I see that Easy Media Creator is rated #1, and Power2Go 4 is a close second with a much better price. Then I was surprised to find Power2Go 4 available from PurPlus for only $10.95 (and only $2.85 shipping). (Seems too good to be true.......?) Anyway, I eagerly await the mailman's ring.

I did not even consider upgrading to the current Nero-- I don't see a point in sending money to any company that would put into the marketplace the kind of garbage represented by my bundled Nero version. (I accept that it might fail because of poor media-- but I object to how GRACELESSLY it fails.)

In the meanwhile, I'm happily using InCD for incremental backups. Hope it keeps working till my new software comes.

Then I guess just use whatever that floats in your boat, or in other words, use what you've had the most experiences and knowledge hands on.

Good luck and happy burnings..!!

'm not much sure what i can say (or what you want any of us to say). Alkohol nor myself are being derogatory - You're using InCD which in my opinion is awful. Not because it's by Nero but because i've never got on with such software as InCD or anything similar. But more importantly you're trusting your data to Memorex (however the actual disc manufacturer might be ok but without more details such as a logfile i can only assume the discs aren't much good and/or you've got settings that need tweaking.

post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

Do you literally mean that you only recomend "Made in Japan" media?

I just visited my local Staples, where they have a lot of Memorex, some Sony made in Taiwan, some Maxell made in Taiwan, and some Sony made in Austria.

Shall I keep looking for "Made in Japan"?

TIA,
Gerry

@GerryC1,

Yes..... I prefer and recommend "Made In Japan" only if you're going for the famous Taiyo Yuden (genuine Yuden are also FUJI & SONY 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" only). However, the Verbatim are "Made In Taiwan" - this is another top notch media, and it is as great as the Taiyo Yuden. If you're lucky then you'll find one with "Made In Singapore", I highly doubt it though since the "Made In Singapore" is out-of-stock or possibly discontinued for now, except the Verbatim 2.4X DVD+R DL (DVD9) blanks only.

On the other hand, if you can find the MAXELL 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan", then I highly recommend you to go with it. Honestly, in my opinion the Maxell (Made In Japan) manufactured by Hitachi is a high quality grade A media. It is rank in the first class media as Taiyo Yuden, and it is definitely on par with the famous Yuden and the Verbatim dataplus (with advanced AZO).
