Something wrong with my Sony DVD RW DRU-530A

Sony DVD RW DRU-530A

I heard of bad reviews/experiences people had on this writer but I had no problem with it for many months... Now theres something wrong with it. Any CD-R(blank or written) I placed it has this weird song when it starts reading the medium and does not read in the end.

All other mediums work: DVD , DVD-R , DVD-RW, Original CDs etc. Only CD-R's does not read... Is this a hardware problem? I updated the writers firmware to the latest version and its still the same problem. Can anyone point out the problem? Thanks in advance~
