I've recently downloaded a set of DTS .shn files, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to play them correctly.
I've spent a good deal of time reading everything i can find on DTS files and how to play them, and from what I gather my system should play them fine...

SB Audigy 2 ZS > Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1

I'm trying to play the .shn files directly from my hard drive, so the CD/DVD player obviously isn't an issue.
I've tried playing them thru dbPowerAmp and Winamp w/ Shnamp plugin. Hisssssssss!

Not sure what i'm doing/not doing correctly, as DTS is a whole new world to me. Should i be using a specific player? Is the fact that they are .shn and not .wav making it more difficult? Any help appreciated, i'd love to be able to hear this!

I had the same problem. Go to: http://www.etree.org/ and look on the right side for mkwACT. The software and accompanying guide can help.
Rock On!

Go to http://www.etree.org/mkw.html and follow the instructions. The .shn files need to be DE-coded to WAV files. That's what mkwACT is for. Once they are decoded, they should play on a player that has DTS and accepts CR-Rs. Now this is what I was told. My DVD player has DTS, but doesn't like CD-R discs, so I'm out of luck.
