Audacity or Nero will do this for you. I've used Nero to do it many times. Never used Audacity so I don't know how easy it is to use.

What do I have to click on in Nero to do this? I have 6.0 Ultra Edition. Any step you can give me would be helpful. Thanks

Open up your Nero Wave Editor. Click on Audio & then Record. Make sure your Sample rate is set to 44,100Hz (CD) & Bit Depth is 16bit. Click OK & a recording box opens. Play your LP & record.

vlad; When you click on "Audio" then "Record", You should get a box that pops up titled "Sample Format Settings". Set them to what I mentioned earlier, then click OK. Then you should get a box that pops up titled "Recording Console". Now you should be able to play your record & hear it. You will also see the Input Levels on the right-hand side moving up & down. You now can adjust your sound level on your stereo to a proper level. Once you get everything adjusted properly You would then start your LP over again & click on the Red button to record. When you are done click the Blue pause button. When you click on the OK button your recording gets saved in the Wave Editor for editing. Then you can click on "File" then "Save As" to save your recording as 1 file.

hi dave: thanks for trying to help me. i think that my problem is further upstream as i'm not getting any sound with wave editor. when i use intervideo windvr3, i get the sound in the composite and s-video mode. i get no sound with Nero wave editor even after i take the steps that you indicated.. how do you determine the input that wave editor uses?

thanks

Click on "Options" then "Device Settings". You'll get a box with Input & Output devices. It's been quite awhile since I last used the Wave Editor but I remember having this same problem when I first started using it. You just have to try different things & see what happens. Good Luck!

i'm afraid that i had no luck. i use an ati all-in-wonder card and the output from a vcr is input through a connecting device that connects to their card. i substitute the output connections from a cassette deck [i recorded the LP onto a cassette] and again, i get the sound through other programs so i am stymied why not through audacity or Nero.

thanks
