Karloz25 did an interview with PSP-Dev about the downgrader.
I had a chance to talk to a PSP-DEV member working with
Yoshi and team WAB. PaWsticK from PSP-DEV gave me some insight on
the project (filmware downgrader) they are working on:
I asked PaWsticK a couple questions on how the process of downgrading
the filmware is done.
Question 1.
Will the downgrader require 2 PSP's or 2 Memory Sticks?
Answer 1.
No, "our" filmware downgrader will ONLY require 1 PSP.
Question 2.
Will you need the USB hooked up to your PC while running the process?
Answer 2.
No, the USB does not have to be attatched
Question 3.
What about the POWER cord?
Answer 3.
No, but the Battery needs to be at a FULL Charge!
Question 4.
Since the process only requires 1 PSP, then I assume WiFi is out of
the question?
Answer 4.
No WiFi.
Question 5.
Have you constructed some sort of flash device that you hook up
to the unit?
Answer 5.
No.
Finally I asked him the question I should have asked first :
Is the process done with a EBOOT, and if so then why do you need
a downgrader if the EBOOT will run on your 1.5X or 2.0 PSP?
Response from PaWsticK:
The process is done with only one EBOOT, the reason it works on a
PSP 1.5X and 2.0 is that its a filmware EBOOT modified to work
backwards, because its officially from SONY then it bypass's "SOME"
of the security checks.
This modified EBOOT is not 100% and sometimes stalls while
downgrading, thus shutting down power on the PSP and on
some occasions disabling your unit.
I did not bring up any dates with him, since we ALL know the ANSWER !
When its 100% it will get released, hang in there....
Unfortunatly this is not a copy and paste conversation, because I
had to translate it from Spanish, thus making it sound more
understandable.
