Hello out there,
I'm looking to build my next PC,this will be my first one i build. It will be used for the following burning Dvd's and editing video(converting Avi to DVD). My question is am i better off with an Amd or Intel? I'm not into games so this pc would be used for that.
My budget is between $800.00 and 1,000.00 US anything to keep cost's down would be helpful.

1.mobo and cpu combo?
2.How much ram and which brand?
3.I have three hard drives 2-40 gig WD and 1- 120 gig WD
4. how much PSU?
Is there anything else i might overlooked please feel free to add
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks everyone

Asus A7v880 SKT A Motherboard, AMD Athlon XP3200+ CPU,Corsair (CMX512-3200C2PT)memory, Connect3d ATI Radeon 9600Pro 128MB DDR + DVI + TV AGP graphics card,Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Midi Tower case with a 450 w PSU included. Here is what I would buy for what you are trying to do. You only need 512 MB Ram you can double it up at a later date if you want a boost. You get more power for your money from AMD and I personally think they are just better at most apps. You may as well get good memory as cheap stuff is a waste of money, and if you try to overclock you need it to be stable. Don't go for the value range of a brand as these are not as reliable as the more expensive stuff. A good PSU is at the heart of any system and will last you for years and keep everything running reliably, if you need a case as well then go for something as listed, Antec are very good PSU's. A good cheap burner is the NEC ND3540.

Thanks webhedreg,
Will this setup keep my rendering time(converting AVI to DVD)low? say under an hour? Right now i have a P3 733 mhgz 384ram 16X burner
and it takes me about 7 hours to convert a 900 mb AVI file to mpeg or mpeg-2 or dvd file.
As you can see I need a faster PC to convert all my movies from AVI, DivX to a dvd format.
Do i really need a video card? I thought they where only needed for gamers rig?
Thanks again for you quick reply.
