Here's the score, I have tried everything on this site to get my downloads to go faster but nothing seems to work and now im getting really P***ED OFF can anyone help?
I connect to the net with a Thompson Speedtouch 330 ADSL modem and have an average band speed of 800 - 1000kbs when I test my speed.
I run Zonealarm security suite and have opened the correct ports for which I'm downloading from but my speed just won't go above 5kbs no matter how many seeds I am connected to on a torrent!
Can anyone suggest anyhting else I can try or am I just screwed?

I have tried turning zone alarm off and still the same I have also checked to make sure that the port I am using to download is open but still no joy!
It's really pissing me off now!!!!!
I'm using Azureus but have tried BitTornado & Bitcomet and still get the same speeds of max 5kbs.

Most likely to be that your ports aren't open,

I think I have opened the port correctly in Zone alarm, but could I just check with you?
I have set the port to 65535 in Azureus and in Alarm zone I went into program control and in both Azureus.exe & Java Platform I went into options then expert rules I then added a rule for each program in the protocol box.
I set the protocol to TCP & UDP then I set both the destination port and the source port to 65535.
I then checked on the port authority website to make sure the port was open and it confirmed it was.
Should I have done anything else?
Thanks for your help by the way!

You need to open the ports on your router to get optimal speeds

i wouldnt say u wer screwed. i mean i have a thomson speedtouch 330 an i, like you run Azureus. i started off with p2p and that was fine. when i started off on torrent i had to ty about 5 different clints befor i got optimum speeds. and also (you may or may not wish to do this) i have no internet security installed whatsoever apart from windows firewall, (by the way make sure you have configured your windows firewall to allow Azureus connections) it may seem stupid that i have no antivirus or anything. but ive had more troubles with than without it.
hope that helps

For Azureus, do you have a Yellow or Green smiley face when downloading your torrent?

Try downlaoding a torrent with many seeders, like over 100, and post your average speed. With your connection you should be getting btween 20 KB and 40 KB.

Thats bad. Your ISP must be blocking your bandwith. That is the only reasoning. If possible, try switching your internet service provider.

That sounds realistic, I've just read an article that Tiscali who are my service provider are trying to limit people who are using P2P downloads.
If that's so I think your probably right!
