I was in a local Sony Centre this afternoon and the guy I was talking to didn't seem to really know what he was talking about.
My issue is that I would mainly be using the PSP for video playback. I would either be converting avi's or mpg's to mp4 and transferring them across. My brother has a few long train rides, so watching video would kill the time. However, I really want to know how well the playback works:
If he is on the train and pauses the video, will he be able to resume it from the same place on the journey home?
If the video I recorded has adverts (or boring bits) can he fast forward?
If he wants to, is there a way of selecting a point to start (lets say he wants to begin 25 minutes in)?
Also, if there are any other interesting points someone thinks I should know, please tell me.
Ok to start off, playing movies on the sony psp is the best thing ever! The picture quality is amazing and the sound is good to!
Q. If he is on the train and pauses the video, will he be able to resume it from the same place on the journey home?
A. Yes, If you pause the video you will be able to resume it back to that point. But If you stop the video then the video will start back to the begining
Q.If the video I recorded has adverts (or boring bits) can he fast forward?
A. Yes you can fast forward through the movie If you like. Either use the top shoulder buttons L and R, or use the arrow buttons.
Q. If he wants to, is there a way of selecting a point to start (lets say he wants to begin 25 minutes in)?
A. I'm not exactly sure on that one, but I think that all depends on the movie he's watching. Because some movies on the psp feature a scene index which allows you to chose a scene with only one click. Usaully you would find this feature in the menu of the movie.
If you pause, does the machine then turn off after a couple of minutes of inactivity? At that point is there some sort of lock button that you can press, so that accidental pressing of any buttons doesn't turn it on?
To answer your first question, no the psp wont turn off after you pause the movie. The psp will keep the movie paused until you press play. Also on a side note here, It's not recommended to keep a still image on the screen for too long. Doing so may cause the image to stay on the screen permanetly. Although you wont actually see the image clearly but If would turn off the psp and look at the black screen you would probably see that image (only a faint one).
There is a hold button on the psp itself. If you slide that button down then the psp will not react If you were to press the buttons. All you would have to do is slide that hold button up again in order to press all buttons.
