I have a liteon LTC4816H vk9h2 cd/rw drive and a Emprex IDE1008 v0057 dvd/rw drive. I have encountered a problem where both drives do not recognise any disks, cds, dvds, ps2 cds and dvds. i have checked the properties of both drives and the system tells me that both devices are working properly. These drives have worked fine in the past.

If i try to burn in nero i just get the message insert blank disks.
My dvd/rw drive wili open in explorer and show nothing whether there is a disk inserted or not and the cd rom wil ask for a disk to be inserted.

boths drives spin up a disk when loaded and an hour glass appears for a few seconds and thats it.

I have windows xp SP2 running of 512RAM
i have nero, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink and any dvd. I have noticed that anydvd does read the disks because they css keys are recognised.

Any help would be appreciated

I don't know if I can help you much,but I'll get the ball started.

Go into device mangager and look for yellow exclamation marks.

While you are still in device manager, look at your IDE-ata/atapi controllers for both primary and secondary.Open each up,click advanced settings tab and make sure they say DMA or DMA if available. Make sure they don't say PIO mode.

It will not recognize any discs. Are these backup discs/original discs/or both?
