nero ShowTime2 plays mpegs really slow??

I have captured some VHS tapes to MPEG files using Sonic MyDVD6 + Adaptec AVC 2210 USB capture 'thing'. (other relevant things WinXPhomeSp2; 3.06ghz P4ht; 786mb ram; lastest Nero 6.6 ultra installed).

Odd thing is:

Nero ShowTime2 (2.0.0.44) seems to play the resulting MPEGs in ultra/super slow-motion. Seems like it displays a frame and just pauses for like 5+ seconds then onto the next frame. WMP 9 does about same thing.

CinePlay 2.0.1 & WinDVD4 play the files fine. Also, I used NeroSmartStart's "Make A Movie" (NVE) to fiddle around with some of the files; the preview player in NVE seems to play the files fine, too.

When I load a file, the display in ShowTime2 reads:

time stuff ...
Audio: PCM, 2Channel, 16KBps
Video: 720x480, MPEG-2, ... MBPs


XP's TaskMgr indicates a largely idle system while ShowTime is playinig a file.

What am I doing wrong?
