I'm going to buy a dvdr, and I want to know if I can backup the movies that I've bought, and if so, with what software can I do that.
If I make a copy of a movie that I've bought, can I play it on my home DVD player?
Thanks for all the help you can provide me.

You need to buy either DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R or DVD-RW drive. DVD-RAM drives wont do it. Pioneer DVR-A03 is a good choice, at least what I've heard.

For software, you need a burning software (Nero) and a ripper (SmartRipper) and if the DVD is bigger than 4.36GB, you also need additional, freeware tools. All can be found from our site.

I also suggest that you read through this forum before asking more questions.
